He is named after our friends Matt Tonroe and Lloyd Newell who we served with in both the Parachute Regiment and 22 SAS.
They were exceptional soldiers, men of integrity and charisma. Both were tragically killed on operations. Our lead characters namesake is to honour their memories and the ultimate sacrifice they made for our freedom. They were the best of us.
Matt Lloyds character: Inspired by the soldiers we looked up to. People who were rarely fazed and just like Teflon, shit never stuck. Matt is like an old platoon sergeant who's been there and done it and seen bosses come and go; caring nothing for rank or class. He's driven by the mission not the process. Likes to cut his own detail and comfortable in his own skin. His humility comes from seeing better men before him fall and knowing what is at stake. His unrelenting pursuit of excellence and discipline in all things has ensured his survival while a dark sense of humour has kept him sane.
His parents were Royals, born from an Elysian prince and Abysian princess. His birth was to set about the reunification of the most ancient race across the 10 realms. Millions of years of evolution and exposure to the realms by his ancestors has imprinted into his DNA. He is stronger, faster and more adaptable to harsh conditions than humans. Like all Euclidian's his body can heal quickly to most injuries and aliments and has no human weaknesses except maybe envy. Envy of the simplicity of man. Matt is unable to love and live free for fear of continuing to lose those close to him.
